Inpatient Overview

What is actually is Drug & Alcohol Inpatient Treatment?

Inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol abuse includes staying at a 24-hour facility and receiving treatment there. The first step in inpatient treatment is detoxification. Once detoxification is completed, the individual will start inpatient treatment to address drug use by participating in individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management if clinically appropriate. Individuals in this program participate in intensive therapy and are monitored 24 hours daily to ensure safety. When individuals are not in therapy or not meeting with a doctor, then they will be participating in activities within the program.

What to expect during a detox

Inpatient treatment involves staying in a 24-hour facility for the duration of the treatment. You will sleep and eat at the facility. Inpatient programs are very beneficial for people with chronic addiction who desperately want to find recovery but keep relapsing. Inpatient treatment gives you the opportunity to safely and comfortably detox under the care of medical professionals. You will have access to immediate care if withdrawal symptoms become dangerous. You will also have access to medications to assist in decreasing the severity of the withdrawal symptoms. Inpatient programs are very safe because there is access to medical care and mental health professionals around the clock. Therefore, if something goes wrong, there is always someone available to help.

Benefits of an inpatient program

Sifting through the options of residential treatment centers can be daunting. There are many options, and they often seem to run together when you’re looking at them all at once. If you are searching for residential treatment for you or a loved one, here are some things you may want to keep in mind when making a choice.

1.

Choose a facility full of staff that care. Going through residential treatment can be difficult and scary, so it’s essential to have staff available at the facility that genuinely cares about the individuals they serve and appear friendly while doing it.

2.

Choose a facility with competent providers. You want to ensure that the facility you choose has medical professionals and mental health professionals that are fully trained in treating addiction and are experts in their field.

3.

Choose a facility that promotes individualized treatment. It is important that you are involved in every aspect of your treatment, including the treatment planning process. That means that even if the facility is using evidence-based practices, they should still include the individual in identifying their own treatment goals and defining what recovery means for them. When individuals identify these things on their own, then treatment can look slightly different for each individual. Treatment should not be a one size fits all approach.

Residential

Residential treatment, also known as inpatient treatment, delivers the most intense level of rehabilitation for individuals with drug and alcohol addictions. Provided housing in a residential rehab facility is the simple defining component of inpatient treatment. It provides a secure, stable, and structured living environment with 24-hour care and an intense focus on leaving individuals equipped and stabilized to return to their private lives.

After completing detoxification, our inpatient program focuses on stabilizing clients’ health to initiate practicing recovery fundamentals. Each morning at Eternal Purpose Recovery Center, clients set daily goals and participate in individual, family, and group therapeutic sessions to restore clients’ minds and heal clients’ spirits. Yet, there is no typical day at Eternal Purpose Recovery Center. Every day is different because everyone gets an individualized treatment plan catered to their specific recovery needs and goals.
